Ambassador John K. Veroneau is a partner in the Washington, DC office of Covington & Burling LLP, where he is co-chair of the International Trade and Finance practice group. Previously, Veroneau served as Deputy United States Trade Representative (USTR), and prior to that, as USTR’s General Counsel. At these posts he negotiated trade and investment agreements, initiated and defended World Trade Organization (WTO) disputes, and assisted U.S. companies to overcome foreign regulatory barriers. He has also served as Legislative Director to Senator Bill Cohen and to then-Majority Leader Bill Frist, and as Chief of Staff to Senator Susan Collins.
